These little tea light candles are charmingly realistic and make a great grouping...

And in other news...word's out, TinTin will star in a feature film due out this Holiday season.

Having A Blast

July brings warm weather and lots of visitors to New England, we have amazing fireworks and lots of beaches and outdoors to discover. Among our many summer amusements here at Black Ink: Bubble Bears, Astronaut Ice Cream, Constellation Finders, Bike Bells, Cap Bombs and more...

And here's what's brand new:

Bangles and Rings fashioned from used skateboards!

My Drap, placemats, napkins and coasters on a roll. These re-useable 100% cotton napkins come on a roll and are serrated, to be torn off when needed. Brilliant idea and beautiful colors for a picnic or dinner al fresco.

Fresh merchandise arriving daily, including these sweet little cases in our Boston store window.

And lots of little favorites, too...

And these beautiful hand carved birds from Brazil in our case in Harvard Square...

Just a number?

By my count, we've just begun our tenth year here in Harvard Square. And we're working on EIGHTEEN in our Charles Street store, the original Black Ink. (That's like 126 years in dog years!) Thanks to all our supportive customers and staff, we've been very fortunate to have stuck it out. The Small Business Desk Reference says the average lifespan of a small business in the US is eight I'm feeling grateful. Thanks for supporting local businesses, it makes a difference to our communities and keeps originality and choice in the neighborhood and marketplace.

Here comes May, full of special days - Mother's Day, graduations and sunny days. We're ready with great gift ideas for Moms, grads and travelers, and beautiful map gift wrap to present them in. The map wraps also make an inexpensive and effective wall decor, reminding you of a recent trip or your favorite destination. Current offerings include Boston (of course), Europe Centrale, New York City, British Isles, London and San Francisco.

A big thank you to everyone who purchased our Japan Relief posters! We were able to send an additional $800 to the JCCCNC's Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. There are a few posters left, so if you do want one you'll need to act soon. Some of our posters were also sold at the Bake Sale for Japan held recently at Upstairs on the Square here in Harvard Square. It was a heartwarming afternoon of storytelling, crane folding and the most delicious bake sale ever, with sweets donated by local restaurants and pastry chefs. This was a national movement raising over $100,000 for Peace Winds Japan.
